On December 28, 2016, John Magrino won a decision awarding a defense verdict following a bench trial in Jeanty v. JP Morgan Chase & Co., Docket No. 16100514 (Justice Ct., Town of Newburgh, Orange County). The claimant asserted that he was assaulted on the premises of the defendant’s bank by one of the bank’s customers, and that the defendant’s negligence was a cause of his injuries. Mr. Magrino argued that the defendant did not cause the dangerous situation, and that the claimant was the aggressor. The Court found that the defendant was not liable for the injuries to the plaintiff.
